Geography
The equator divides the earth into the northern and southern hemispheres.
Lines of Latitude circle the earth
parallel to the equator.
Meridians of longitude run north/south between the poles.
The prime or 0 meridian is fixed by convention to run through the Greenwich observatory in the UK.
